Huguenot Masonic Lodge No. 46 was chartered in 1796 as Westchester Lodge No. 46. This was just 13 years after the American Revolution ended. Several of its founders were either the sons of those who fought in that conflict, or fought in it themselves. They went on to help build Westchester County. They offered the community its first
Huguenot Masonic Lodge No. 46 was chartered in 1796 as Westchester Lodge No. 46. This was just 13 years after the American Revolution ended. Several of its founders were either the sons of those who fought in that conflict, or fought in it themselves. They went on to help build Westchester County. They offered the community its first public library and had branches in both what is today the Bronx and also Westchester. They were also big supporters of public education, in keeping with the Masonic tradition of seeking knowledge and truth.
